<p>During the past week we have been thanking God for our nation,
its freedoms, peace, beauty, resources, good structures of
government and justice, and so much more. But our hearts also cry
out, asking that the Holy Spirit would come and change the hearts
of many people in this Great South Land. We have been praying&nbsp;
these prayers for almost two decades and we are not alone.
Thousands of people across Australia are also regularly praying
this way and God is not deaf to the humble cries of his people. A
national day of prayer and fasting has been called for Sunday 19
February. In the article accompanying this call, it contained the
following paragraph. <em>In 1901, at the time of Federation, 96.1%
of Australians claimed to be Christians. The last census, in 2006,
only 63.9% of Australians called themselves Christians. The real
figures for those who practice their faith through Church
attendance is much worse. Church attendance has been falling since
Federation with only 8.8% going to church weekly.</em> We know that
in the past, communities and nations have been transformed by the
gospel and so we keep praying with faith for our nation. This
coming Friday here at Bridgeman we begin a weekly series of Friday
evening prayer meetings leading up to our tent meetings just before
Easter. The meetings will be held from 7.15 - 8.15pm in the Prayer
Room (Meeting Room 3 of the Playtime Centre). Many individuals in
our church family keep sharing words that encourage us to pray with
faith as we believe for a great move of the Holy Spirit.<br />
<br />
Today we continue to thank our God for the calling and privilege of
partnering with Indigenous Christians in our nation. Some really
great news is that dhiiyaan church will soon be establishing a base
for their ministry in the first two rooms of the bedroom wing of
<em>The House</em>. The glass door on the west wing is an ideal
entrance to these rooms, which will be set up as offices. Again we
praise God for the amazing provision of this property! We are also
rejoicing with <em>The Grove</em> church because tomorrow they will
take possession of a hectare property in Ferny Grove. This will
be&nbsp; the first time a church has possessed land in either Ferny
Grove or Upper Kedron.&nbsp; We are making available an
interest-free loan of $150,000 to assist in the purchase of this
land. <em>The Grove</em> will also be setting up a ministry base in
the house on this property and will begin the process of designing,
and then seeking to gain development approval, to construct a
church home on this land.<br />
<br />
As I write today (Thursday), goods for the Mega Monster Garage Sale
have literally filled the property. Thank you to all those who
contributed articles, have given time in sorting, delivering
advertising, and also serving on the day. We are trusting the Lord
for many wonderful outcomes from the Sale as we keep building
relationships in our local community. My daily reflection on Mark
2:18-22 in "Encounter with God", concluded with this paragraph on
Australia Day. <em>"Sadly Christians are often better known for
what we are against than for what we are for, whilst we keep any
celebration safely behind church walls. How can we maintain
intolerance to sin whilst bringing God's joy and celebration to
those outside the church?"</em> I thought of our Mega Monster
Garage Sale and thanked the Lord for such a great way to share His
love and joy with so many in our community.<br />
<br />
Giving thanks with you for our nation and also continuing to pray
for many more to discover the joy of life in Jesus our
Saviour.<br />

<p>It's a great joy to be back worshipping with you after a
two-week holiday. A warm welcome to those who are visiting today
and a warm welcome to others who are returning from holidays. I
love the opportunity holidays brings to read, reflect, visit other
Christian communities, as well as spend quality time with those who
are closest to us. The following snippets are just a few of the
thoughts and words that have impacted me over the past few
weeks....&nbsp;<br />
<br />
<em>If you want despair, spend time with mocking sinners, but if
you want God's happiness make friends with those who love God and
His word.</em> (Application Study Bible notes on Ps 1 :2-3.) For
all our imperfections and failings as a church its such a blessing
to worship, hear God's word and do life with those who are also
seeking to centre their lives in Christ.<br />
<br />
In Jim Collins' study of the decline of businesses (<em>How the
Mighty Fall</em>), he states that the first stage of decline is
"<em>Hubris born of Success....we're so great we can do
anything!</em>" The words of James 4:6 remain true for businesses,
churches and for every one of us...<em>God opposes the proud but
gives grace to the humble</em>.&nbsp;How much we individually and
as church need to humbly walk with our God this year.<br />
<br />
When I visited another&nbsp;congregation of our Baptist family of
Churches, I heard the story of a man whose was given a vision from
God more than 15 years ago. It called for him to complete a
doctorate so he had the credentials to engage national leaders in
the area of education. He said he was a retiring person but God had
called him to be courageous.&nbsp; He quoted the verse from
Ecclesiastes 9:10...<em>Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with
all your strength</em>. What a great word for all of us this year
as we seek to&nbsp;seize hold of every opportunity the Holy
Spirit&nbsp; opens to impact our world for Christ.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Just this past week I read a chapter of Andy Stanley's book
"<em>The Grace of God</em>."<br />
He asked a great question as he reflected on the story of the woman
at the well in John 4. "<em>How much sand would a person have to
consume in order to quench his thirst? ..... God's response to the
thirsty soul is grace. Grace that fills the gaps created by our sin
or the sins of others. Grace that allows us to honestly face and
carry our pasts but without being controlled by them</em>. He
quotes from Hebrews 4 :16 "<em>Let us then approach the throne of
grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace
to help us in our time of need</em>."&nbsp;This is the grace Jesus
wants us and all those around to live in this year. It alone
quenches thirsty souls.<br />
<br />
Our good and loving Father has an amazing year of ministry and
service planned for us. As we mesh our lives together, live humbly
and prayerfully as his people, boldly and diligently take hold of
Holy Spirit opportunities and drink deep from the well of God's
grace and kindness, then rivers of&nbsp;joy, life and blessing will
flow this year. There is a wonderful opportunity this very week
through the Garage Sale, to be caught up in a stream of God's
grace&nbsp; as we meet and love our community in Christ's
name.<br />
<br />
Looking forward to sharing life in Christ with you this week and in
the year ahead.<br />

<p>A special welcome today to those who may be visiting with us. We
trust you feel right at home. Our Precinct Welcome Team are here to
help you with anything you may need to know. Please stay also for a
free cappuccino at the visitors' cafe in the courtyard after the
service so we can greet you personally.<br />
<br />
This last week I have been wrapping my mind around some of the
great things God has been doing, even during the holidays, and some
of the great opportunities He has opened up for us as a church
leading into 2012. Our Christmas appeal for the Mully Children's
Family in Kenya is now up to $25,000. Thanks to so many who have
given very generously to this work. This will be a tremendous
blessing to MCF as the team from Bridgeman continues preparation to
head over to help practically with building work in April.<br />
<br />
This week I also visited the Immerse Team doing a week of intensive
ministry study at the Brookfield Baptist Camp Centre. The Immerse
Team are a group of young adults from Bridgeman who have
volunteered to spend their holidays doing a 12-week&nbsp; Summer
Ministry Training Experience here at the church linked in with
Malyon College. As I spoke with some of the young adults over lunch
they were sharing about how much they were learning and the great
encouragement spiritually the experience has been for them. It
always excites me to see God working in the lives of the next
generation and to see them being equipped and growing a passion to
serve God. Continue to pray for this team over the coming
weeks.<br />
<br />
I was also impacted by the servant-heart of many in this place this
week as teams of people have been working on sorting for the garage
sale even in the hot conditions. Special thanks to all involved.
It's now just two weeks away! We still desperately need more
helpers so if you can spare any time to help on the day, or to help
with sorting prior to the sale, it would be greatly appreciated. No
experience is required and it is a great way to meet others and
connect into the church, while at the same time reaching out to our
community.<br />
<br />
Also coming up soon is the church-wide Gospel in Life study series
we will be doing, starting in February. If you are not in a Connect
Group now is the time to sign up so you don't miss out. All of our
Connect Groups right across the church will be following this
material in conjunction with the Sunday messages. This is a great
way to start the year in God's Word together.<br />
<br />
As I have spent time planning this week and preparing for the year
ahead I am so expectant and faith-filled as to what God wants to do
in 2012. I am more aware than ever of God's hand at work in so many
ways. He continues to provide and bring things together and work by
His spirit as we humbly seek Him. We are weak but He is strong.
That is why we want to devote this Friday night as a church to
praying over 2012. This is our heart as a church and I warmly
invite you to join with us for this Prepare the Way prayer
event.<br />
<br />
Finally I do want to say a special farewell today to Phil and
Bronwyn and their children Henry, Amelia and Jonathan. Phil has
been a valued member of our staff team and this is their last
Sunday with us before they head to Alice Springs to serve in a
ministry capacity. They will be greatly missed by all. We will be
praying for them in the services today.<br />

<p>There is something so exciting about the month of January. I
love turning the page of a new calendar and having a fresh
beginning, standing on the edge of a brand new year, with months of
untapped potential ahead. Only God knows the fullness of what is in
store, but there is a real sense of expectancy as we launch into
2012, that He wants to do great and amazing things in and through
us as a church.</p>

<p>This past week I've been reading through Max Lucado's book
<em>Outlive Your Life</em> and I was encouraged and challenged by
his chapter "Pray First, Pray Most". In it Lucado recounts the
story of revival in the Isle of Lewis, where two elderly sisters,
burdened for those who were lost, spent two nights a week praying
from 10pm to 4am and pleading God to have mercy on their city.
After months of this dedicated prayer, hearts began to soften and
God moved in great power in their small church off the coast of
Scotland. <em>"For five weeks... large crowds gathered in four
services at 7pm, 10pm, midnight and 3am. The move of god upon the
people was undeniable. Hundreds of people were converted. Drinking
places closed for lack of patrons. Saloons emptied, and the church
grew. The Isle of Lewis tasted the presence of God. All because two
women prayed."</em></p>

<p>Our hearts long for a movement of the Holy Spirit so great, that
the hearts of those far from Him would be softened and many lives
transformed. We thank God for the opportunities that await us this
year to serve Him, and to share this great news that we have within
our hearts. But in all of our planning and preparations, and before
any action, it's vital that we lay a firm foundation in prayer.
It's interesting that the call in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 wasn't to
preach, sing, serve, or organise without ceasing, though they are
all important functions; but rather a call to continue in unending
prayer. No other spiritual acitivty is guaranteed such results
(Matthew 18:19), for God is indeed moved by the humble, prayerful
heart.</p>

<p>So as we step fully into 2012, let's be a people determined to
pray. To <em>pray most:</em> personally in our own lives and walks,
and corporately through the many prayer opportunities that lie
ahead. To <em>pray first</em>, before jumping into any action, we
really do want to commit the year ahead, the opportunities that
await us, and our very lives to the Lord. So we've set aside a time
to do that corporately on <strong>Friday 20 January, 7.00pm -
9.00pm</strong>. Before the Mega Monster Garage Sale adn the
busy-ness of the new year gets fully under way, we'd love for
everyone to come and join us in a time of prayer and worship as we
<strong><em>Prepare the Way</em></strong> and pray together over
2012. Colossians 4:2-3 urges us to "Devote yourselves to prayer
with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God
will give us many opportunities to speak about His mysterious plan
concerning Christ." That is exactly what we as a church long
for!</p>

<p>Look forward to praying and serving with you this year!</p>

<p>This year we are celebrating our 20th year as a church. Will
this be the year in which our Lord returns? God alone knows the
hour but its clear how we are meant to live in view of Jesus'
certain return… Therefore keep watch because you do not know on
what day your Lord will come (Matt 24: 42).&nbsp; Our calling is to
pray, serve&nbsp; and invest our lives wisely this year, in the
only Kingdom which lasts forever.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The first term is full of so many exciting opportunities to serve
our Master…..<br />
The mega monster garage sale is being held on Saturday 28th
January.&nbsp; It is a tremendous way to meet our community, bless
those who need help, work together as a church community and seek
to raise additional funds for our Everyone&nbsp;Reaching More
appeal. Much help is needed so please plan to set aside time to
assist in the huge effort required to sort and arrange the
goods.<br />
<br />
We look forward to another church wide connect group series which
will be linked to the sermons during the month of February. If you
haven't yet registered or collected the study book, "Gospel in
Life," by Tim Keller, make sure you do so today.<br />
<br />
From&nbsp;March 25- April 1&nbsp;we are holding a week long set of
night time evangelistic meetings. We are planning to conduct these
meetings in a large marquee on "The House" property. Much work
still needs to be done in preparation for this outreach and we are
encouraging everyone to be praying now for family neighbours and
friends. Following these meetings we will be also be holding our
usual Easter services which provide another great occasion to
invite others to hear the gospel.<br />
<br />
Thank you to all those who gave so generously to the Christmas
appeal for the Mully Children's Family in Kenya. The funds received
are for the improvement and construction of urgently needed school
buildings.&nbsp;There is still opportunity to give to this great
project.&nbsp;We look forward to sending a Bridgeman team to help
in the construction leaving on Easter Friday.<br />
<br />
In this first term we are proceeding with the plan to use The
Chapel&nbsp;to hold a simultaneous service at 10am.&nbsp;The new
equipment has already shown it's value as we saw at
the&nbsp;Christmas Eve service. More than a 1000 people attended
the 5pm service with 300+ people crowding into The Chapel and Café
area to share in the celebration. Around 2500&nbsp;people joined us
for one of our three Christmas services.<br />
These are just some of the plans for this&nbsp;first term of 2012
as we seek to&nbsp;keep growing in our commitment to&nbsp;follow
Christ and do all we are able, to reach out with His love. Our
prayer and vision is that "As God's grace reaches more and more
people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more
and more glory. (2 Corinthians 4:15)<br />
Looking forward to all the Lord is going to do in this new term and
new year.<br />
Happy new year!</p>

<p>This week we have continued to hear a number of stories of how
God was able to bless through the Carols last weekend. Although we
were unable to hold the Carols in the park due to the wet weather,
God was clearly still at work and we have so much to be thankful
for. Some told of friends and family members who had said they
would never normally even consider setting foot in a church, but
came to the program and left with a totally different perspective
and a greater openness&nbsp;to God and church than ever. God can
use even the wet weather to help break down&nbsp;barriers and work
in people's lives. We know from experience as a church that nothing
stops God working out His plans and purposes.<br />
<br />
Special thanks to the huge team of volunteers and helpers who
worked so hard on Saturday to set up at the church&nbsp;with the
change of plans. There was a great sense of joy in working
together. We were also very thankful for having the ability to hold
the overflow crowd in The Chapel with the new live link, as well as
the blessing of the overflow parking space up at The House. This
meant that we were able to accommodate more people&nbsp;here at the
church for the Carols&nbsp;than we could have ever done in the
past. In this way Saturday was another affirmation for us of the
direction God has been calling us in, to keep making more space for
people to come and again I want to thank so many who have given
this year through the Everyone Reaching More Appeal. We are already
seeing a great return on the investment and it encourages us to
keep pressing forward to raise the remaining funds&nbsp;needed to
bring that plan to completion.<br />
<br />
Last night was also a significant spiritual milestone for dhiiyaan
as they celebrated their first baptism. God continues to bless
powerfully through this ministry and as I write this we are looking
forward to a very special service full of praise and thanks to our
great God. There is a great sense that this is just the beginning
of more that is yet to flow to the lives of many through Jesus and
the work of dhiiyaan.<br />
<br />
This week we are praying especially for our Christmas services.
Make sure you pray about an opportunity to invite someone along to
one of these services on Christmas Eve 5pm and 7pm, or Christmas
Day at 8am. There are invitation cards available today with all of
the service information detailed on them. Feel free to take these
to give to someone you know. We will be looking to have the live
link operating again so that we can fit as many people in as
possible.<br />
<br />
I was reading this week<em>…"Christmas is God's gift to us, a gift
of light and life, hope and grace. The gift is a reflection of
God's concern for the world, and God's desire to heal it and drive
away its darkness. The gift of Christmas therefore comes with a
mission, a calling and a responsibility… We are invited to bear the
light, to walk in the light, and to take the light to the
world."<br />
</em><br />
What an incredible life transforming message we have to bring.
Let's pray this week that God will help us as His church to shine
His light more brightly than ever this Christmas.<br />

<p>It's Friday morning as I write these words. Even though the sun
is shining brightly today, the forecast for tomorrow remains one of
showers and a possible thunderstorm. I am not sure what is going to
happen with our <em>Carols in the Park</em> but I do know that our
Lord is sovereign over all things. This is His world, the natural
elements are under His control and so whether the wind and waves
are told to be still, or the storm leads to a flood, as it did last
year, our Heavenly Father is working out His divine plans. Our
responsibility is to trust Him, to keep seeking to make the gospel
known whatever happens. This week someone sent me an email telling
of an Iranian pastor who has been sentenced to death because of his
commitment to keep sharing the gospel. The courageous witness of
our brothers and sisters around the world,&nbsp;encourage us to be
bold here in our land in making Christ known, to invest and keep
working hard, come what may.<br />
<br />
I was interested to read back over some of the words I wrote after
last year's flooded Carols. <em>"We give thanks… for the many who
came from the community to the Carols held here on the church
property. I spoke to a man who collected the Bible and Christian
literature pack. He told how he had been coming to our Carols for a
number of years listening to the testimonies and he said he always
felt uplifted and filled with hope every time he was with us.
Another person wrote how a family member invited to the Carols
began weeping as Luke told his story. These are&nbsp; just a couple
of the stories we are hearing of lives being powerfully impacted by
the Holy Spirit through the Carols. Praise God! The Lord sits
enthroned over the flood… The Lord gives strength to His people (Ps
29 :10-11). This was true for us last weekend, it will be true for
all David and Karis face as we set them apart today for ministry in
the Middle East, and it is true for every one of us in every
circumstance of life. King Jesus is always with us and His Kingdom
is unstoppable."<br />
<br />
</em>I did not realise when those words were written how true they
would become for David and Karis in a year where they have
experienced so much upheaval and uncertainty. The words of Paul,
who experienced shipwrecks, dangerous rivers and much more, remain
true whether things turn out as we hoped and expected or whether
they don't. <em>"And we know that in all things God works for the
good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His
purpose"</em> (Romans 8 :28).<br />
<br />
Last week Russ&nbsp;and our town planner met with a state
government officer in relation to our development application. The
issue of the land resumption along Albany Creek Rd for future
widening was discussed and Russ is drawing up a revised plan to
submit to the state government planners. Please pray for guidance
for Russ and favour when this plan is submitted. We rejoice again
in another $5,525 given last week for the <em>Everyone Reaching
More</em> Appeal. The total now stands at $413,244 and we continue
to press forward in seeking to prepare the way for all the Lord is
planning&nbsp; to do to bring many more into His Kingdom. It's a
Kingdom of love and light, one which no force can stop and a
Kingdom which is expanding and growing every day.<br />
<br />
What a privilege and joy to part of and to serve in God's great,
eternal Kingdom.<br />

<p>Last week was absolutely full of thanksgiving and joy. It began
with the wonderful stories of the six people who were baptised, the
amazing response as a literal mountain of food was supplied for the
Christmas hampers (a team of 25 volunteers, prepared 120 hampers
including 15 super hampers for dhiiyaan... thank you so much) and
monetary gifts totalling $2500, there were very good reports on the
trial of the new service in the chapel at 10am shown via video
and&nbsp; hundreds of notes of thanks and appreciation
were&nbsp;passed in during the day. One person wrote, <em>"It is
wonderful to come in from the wars and battles, grief and dirt of
the world, have our feet back in Your house Father, shake off the
world's chaos and be refilled and renewed here in this place,
filled to overflowing with Your Spirit."&nbsp;<br />
<br />
</em> On Tuesday night the blessing continued as we celebrated the
joy of serving Christ together. Taking the time to express our
appreciation for one another is such a powerful way of growing our
love and unity as we partner together in making the gospel
known.&nbsp; An email from someone after the night captured so
beautifully the spirit of the evening.&nbsp; <em>Just wanted to
send you a quick early message to say thankyou to all those who
worked together to celebrate all the different ministries and
workers. My daughter and I had the best night, and we've been
talking so much about it since.&nbsp; I'm sure we all really love
what we do and don't really think we need to be thanked, but I just
wanted to say how beautiful the evening was, how thoughtfully
organised and was a great blessing to all of us. There was such an
atmosphere of joy and happiness just being there together!</em> It
is such a privilege for us to be&nbsp; able to serve in God's great
Kingdom.<br />
<br />
On Wednesday, the Inspire service was also full of great joy as we
praised God for the birth of Jesus our Saviour. Another person
crossed over from death to life at this service which meant the
angels were also celebrating with us (Luke 15:10).&nbsp; On
Wednesday evening the young adult Connect Groups spent the night
distributing hampers&nbsp;which was such a blessing …. thank you so
much. All the prayer meetings this week were filled with
thanksgiving, it was wonderful to see another $4215
being&nbsp;given to the <em>Everyone Reaching More</em> appeal
bringing the total to $407 719. There is no joy that can compare
with the joy of being included in God's family and serving Christ
our Saviour; it's inexpressible and glorious (1 Peter 1:8).<br />
<br />
More joy lies ahead this week as we prepare to hold <em>Christmas
in the Park</em>. Please continue to pray for this evening and
especially for Warren&nbsp;who will be sharing how the Lord has
saved and transformed his life. There are just a few things that I
wanted to remind you about concerning next Saturday:<br />
1. Keep asking your family and friends to share with us at the
park.<br />
2. If you are able, please park at the church or Hypermarket and
use the bus service.<br />
3. Be very warm and friendly to those around you, pray for them
during the afternoon and evening and ask the Lord to open any doors
He has prepared for you to share with others... and encourage those
performing.<br />
4. In the event of wet weather please check our website for
details.<br />
I look forward to carolling with you and sharing Christ's love with
so many in our community next Saturday.<br />

<p>Last Wednesday was another amazing day as about 300 people from
our local community attended the Senior's High Tea. Someone in our
church family wrote,<br />
<em>This year I invited 16 people to come and share the love and
hospitality "Bridgeman Style." Most of my guests had been before
and readily accepted a return invite. Those who came for the first
time were overwhelmed by the caring courtesy they received from our
helpers. They all indicated that they would love to attend the next
High Tea we have and marvelled that Bridgeman is like no other
church they have ever been in.<br />
<br />
</em>It was an incredibly love-filled morning and a video testimony
from Merv about his faith journey was powerfully used by the Holy
Spirit. How we thank the Lord for the opportunities He keeps
bringing to share the good news about Jesus.<br />
<br />
As 2011 draws to a close we are looking back on a year where we
have known God's favour as He promised us in Isaiah 61:2.
<em>dhiiyaan</em> began meeting here at Bridgeman and God has done
a powerful work in growing a congregation of more than a 100
people. We are looking forward to celebrating with
<em>dhiiyaan</em> their first baptism on Saturday 17 December.
Thank you Lord. <em>The Grove</em> not only constituted as a
Baptist church on Sunday 13 November, but 10 minutes before that
service began, word came that the owner of an acreage property with
whom <em>The Grove</em> had been negotiating, was willing to sell.
A contract was signed just a few days ago. Thank you Lord.<br />
<br />
Here at Bridgeman we have also known a year full of amazing
blessings. We too were&nbsp; given property when another adjoining
property became available for purchase. The work of many has
transformed <em>The House</em> into a brilliant centre for
children's ministry which we are seeking to use today for the first
time. Since May, over $400,000 has been given or raised in the
<em>Everyone Reaching More</em> appeal, including a Holy Spirit
prompted <em>"Ornament offering"</em> which resulted in more than
$20,000 being added to this fund. Thank you Lord.<br />
<br />
It's been a great privilege for us as a church to know the joy of
sharing with many in great need. The proceeds of the Garage Sale,
totalling over $65,000, were given to help Queensland flood
victims; around $16,000 was sent to assist the peoples of
Bangladesh and $10,000 to provide for those impacted by the famine
in East Africa. Over $12,000 was given to support Orana youth
shelter, more than 320 shoe boxes were packed for Operation
Christmas Child, 93 hampers were distributed last Christmas, 150
homes were helped in practical ways through BridgeCare and Yes We
Care days... to mention just some of the ways we have been able to
be a blessing to others. Thank you Lord.<br />
<br />
Great things have continued to happen in the lives of many people.
It was a great joy to send David and Karis to the Middle East at
the beginning of the year and to see how the Lord has led them in
all the unexpected developments. More than 200 children attended
the BUZZ holiday program and at SHIFT, 145 young people responded
to the Good News. Hundreds have attended special prayer events,
thousands have heard and studied God's Word, and today we know the
great joy of baptising another six people. There are so many other
blessings which could be mentioned today. Thank you to everyone who
has prayed, given, served, loved, witnessed, and worshipped. Thank
you Lord.<br />
<br />
Psalm 100:4 says, <em>"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His
courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name."</em>
As we come to the end of another year we pause to give great thanks
to our amazing and awesome God.<br />

<p>Last Sunday, some of us from Bridgeman's Church Council visited
our daughter church The Grove, to celebrate their constitution as a
Baptist church. For more than two years the Grove have been seeking
to find land in Ferny Grove/Upper Kedron. They have a vision to
erect a church home in these suburbs where no church has ever been
able to secure a foothold. Two of Pastor Martin's big prayers for
this year were that they would constitute as a church and be able
to purchase a block of land. He wrote in The Grove's Newsletter
today… <em>Last Sunday, 10 minutes before our constitution
celebration service began; God opened the way for The Grove in
miraculous fashion - a timely phone call from the owner of 131
Upper Kedron Road accepting our offer on the property! Constitution
day is a once in a life time day in a church's history, and in one
incredible miracle, God stamped his name on The Grove as set apart
for his purposes in Ferny Grove and Upper Kedron. At the same time
he put his finger right on the place where he wants his church to
stand with gates wide open for many to come home to God.</em></p>

<p>The Grove land fund began a couple of years ago at a Together as
One celebration where more than $65,000 was given through Bridgeman
congregations. Generous giving at The Grove, since then has seen
this fund grow to almost $300,000. With the promise of an interest
free loan of $150,000 from our church, which was agreed to at a
members meeting last year, and a loan from Baplink, The Grove
church are in a position where they able to purchase this
acreage&nbsp; property which includes a house and large shed. Thank
you to those who gave two years ago and thank you to those who have
prayed, including the many who prayed for The Grove at our recent
24/7 week of prayer. What a wonderful answer to prayer and what joy
for us as a church to see another Holy Spirit inspired vision
coming to fulfilment in such an amazing way.<br />
<br />
A very significant part of another God given vision is also about
to come to reality here at Bridgeman next week. At <em>Prayer
1000</em> earlier this year, we prayed about the opportunity to
purchase 310 Graham Road which could be used as a children's
ministry centre. This would make possible the use of the Chapel for
a simultaneous 10.00am service. The property was purchased in April
and since then almost $400,000 has been raised to make possible
needed renovations, the purchase of video equipment and the pursuit
of an application to fully develop the property. There has been
enormous activity over the past six months. Just this past week
Tony Clarke spent more hours installing video equipment,
Brian&nbsp;and Allan extended the sound desk area to make room for
a video camera and air conditioning was installed in the large
meeting room at <em>The House</em>. A tremendous amount of work has
gone into preparing for next week's changes through which we have
sought to make more room. So many words came during 24/7 prayer and
since then, which keep affirming the Holy Spirit's intention to
reach many more through us. My reading today included these verses
from Acts 19: 9 &amp;10 about Paul... <em>He took the disciples
with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
10 This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and
Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the
Lord.</em><br />
<br />
What a vision for us, that all the people in our community and
beyond would hear the word of the Lord. Keep praying and giving and
serving because God's plans always come to fruition.<br />
