Walk Through the Land – A Week of Prayer and Dedication
To mark this very significant milestone for us as a church we are setting aside a week of prayer and dedication from the 4th to the 11th June called “Walk Through the Land”. This name is based on a promise God gave to us as a church from Genesis 13 back in 2010 when we were praying about purchasing our third piece of land on this block. The passage says:
“I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession. And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you.” Genesis 13:15-17
At that time, it was very hard to fathom that God would enable us to own all the properties on this block as we only owned two of the five properties and it seemed an impossibility in so many ways.
This week of prayer will mark the fulfillment of that promise to us as a people seven years later and in the year of our 25th anniversary as a church. We sense the great significance of this occasion and want to take the time to literally “walk through the land” as we dedicate, for the first time, this whole block to His holy purposes.
What a faithful God we serve and how our faith is stirred for all He has in store for the future.
